Where to Find Us

Our Spaces

The Design Space

Come to the creative and highly flexible Design Space for workshops and classes, or to study or work on group projects when it’s not reserved.

Found at McGowan 001, which is most directly accessed at 420 Calle Principal. It can also be accessed by walking through the Learning Lab and down the steps.

The Learning Lab

The Learning Lab is the place to come for your 1:1 appointments with our staff. It’s also where you’ll find our recording booths and community computers. You can also come work independently or in groups around our “campfire table!”

Found on the first floor of McGowan. You can reach it by entering McGowan on Pacific Street and heading to the right (around the back of McGowan 102), or you can enter at 420 Calle Principal and go up the stairs.

The Co-working Suite

Inside the Co-working Suite are four rooms:

  • Pacific Room—reservable small group working space
  • Otter Room—quiet drop-in study space or for very small meetings
  • Tidal Zone—casual lounge
  • The Cove—offices for some of the full-time DLC staff

Found on the second floor of McGowan, MG 210.

Partnerships

Collaborations

The DLC does not function alone. We are uniquely positioned to connect with people and groups across campus and across the entire Middlebury community. We work on a variety of cross-organizational projects through our many partnerships. These are just a few examples of the DLC’s partners and collaborative projects.

Office of Digital Learning

MiddCreate is a Middlebury digital initiative that provides spaces on the web where students, faculty, and staff can explore, learn, and create a digital identity that is owned and managed by them. The DLC has assisted the ODL with the pilot, helped with the launch, and supports people in the MIIS community who are using MiddCreate.

MIIS Recruiting & Admissions

MIcommunity is an incoming student portal run by MIIS Admissions where new students can get to know each other, learn about MIIS, and get excited about starting their graduate school experience in Monterey. It’s based on the Canvas learning management system. The DLC has supported Admissions in getting the community set up and in running the pilot project.

Academic Cyber Infrastructure Transformation Team

Our mission is to evaluate and recommend technology services and innovations for teaching, learning and research. DLC staff are members; we have also built a local team.
